Art Director

Playa Vista, CA


HYFN is looking for a full-time, onsite, and highly skilled Art Director to work in our Playa Vista office. This role will work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team to concept, design, and build websites, apps, software, and games. We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated candidate with solid visual design and leadership capabilities. Includes a strong understanding of code, user experience, game design, and animation. The Art Director will be a member of the creative team, reporting directly to the Group Creative Director.


  • Participate / lead in the concepting and creation of digital products, motions graphics, video production, applications, web and mobile web, etc.
  • Come up with big and small ideas that make the difference between good and great work
  • Support the Executive Creative Director and account teams in ensuring the work reflects the client’s business and brand requirements
  • Work closely and collaboratively with team and clients
  • Present and explain the concepts, answer questions, communicate changes to team
  • Work in small groups and teams in a fast paced environment
  • Mentor and inspire team members
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously depending on size and scope
  • Responsible for managing commitments and workload on a daily basis
  • Raise any roadblocks, issues or changes of schedule to team leadership
  • Stay current with latest trends and technology

Required Skills

  • At least 4+ years of professional experience creating campaigns, digital products, websites, mobile etc.
  • Ability to problem solve on an analytical level
  • Deep understanding of UX/user centered design
  • Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • General knowledge of After Effects and Premiere Pro (3D skills are a plus)
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills, self-motivated, confident, energetic, and creative
  • Stellar portfolio demonstrating solid traditional and digital design experience—including a strong understanding of color theory, typography, composition, and photo retouching
  • Strong understanding of current digital marketing best practices
  • Experience with video and photo production (video and photography shoots)
  • Strong understanding of organic and paid media best practices on top social media platforms
  • Strong communication skills
