PROJECT DETAILS
Challenge:
The interactive reach of mobile applications can spearhead any marketing initiative. Of crucial importance is creating an experience that will keep users coming back and funneling content to them without overloading.
Goal:
The objective was to promote a series of catalog albums from Verve Music Group which feature romantic tracks by jazz icons. To that end, Universal Music Group wanted to leverage a fun, easy-to-use application to create ancillary marketing and visibility within iTunes. The app would highlight the artists and music while engaging the user.
Solution:
The for Lovers iPhone app centers around a game in which players tap pieces scrolling down the screen to earn letters and points. Compiling the right letters eventually unlocks links for free song downloads from iTunes. The points are integrated with Game Center, so players can compete on the leaderboard.
HYFN’s creative team handled the designs for the vibrant yet classic screens, which include artist bios and pictures. Heavy coding was required on the development side, particularly for the capability to stream the first 30 seconds of select songs.
Result:
While enamoring users with game play, the client reaches out on the marketing front. Registering for an email subscription is required for the free downloads. And a portal also was built for the client to push notifications of concert dates, album releases and other messages to all users.
The end result was an invaluable ability to control a channel of communication with potential customers and drive them to promotional content.
